  I came to St. Luke's as my local GP surgery had no more emergency appointments. I had a lot of pain in my toe and a faint red streak running from my toe up my foot. After a quick google, I suspected my foot was infected. I have a triathlon coming up this weekend which i've been training for for 6 months so I wanted to get seen and on treatment ASAP. The clinic is very clean and I was seen relatively quickly compared to other walk in centres I've been to (~45 mins). I sat down with the nurse/doctor and explained my symptoms. She took one look at the toe and said it wasn't infected and to apply moisturiser so it didn't dry out. I spent that night awake in agony with the red streak getting worse and the swelling in the toe becoming massive. A quick emergency trip to my local GP in the morning, the doctor took one look at it and said it was infected. I could've been on antibiotics for 12 more hours and the swelling may not have become as it is now. I am very angry and annoyed as I cannot compete in my race this weekend, costing me £200 in race fees and I have a very angry looking toe at the moment which needn't have got so painful or gammy. I suspect this is the first port of call for staff here to turn patients away if they want antibiotics. Please tell the staff here to THINK a bit more next time.
